BNL Chatter / Barenaked Advice / Ipod Pooped

Try not to laugh, but I just got a call from one of our motorcoach drivers. He is in Michigan with a group of high school students headed to Grand Rapids for a conference. A 17 year old female on the bus dropped her IPOD into the toilet. She is demanding that the driver put his arm down into the toilet and fish it out. OR she wants to know if he can give her some plastic bags and she can fish it out. The driver said no. The chaparones onboard said no. Of course, she called home and her parents. Mommy and Daddy are going to sue me if I do not allow her to try to get it out. I do not want the responsibility of her getting chemical burns. I told the parents that she is 17 years old and should be responsible enough to take care of her items. Since she dropped it in, it is her fault and it is gone. What the hell do you tell someone in a case like this???? |

What exactly is in those toilets? ...besides shit and iPods, of course. Seems to me it's a lost cause. |

I'd tell mommy and daddy to bring it. LOL at Richard! |

It's a nasty blue chemical designed to make the poopy and pee pee not smell. I for one would not be fishing around in it. |

Um, are the child/parents holding out hope that someone will revive the ipod? |

The kid claims that its "under warranty". I dont think any warranty covers dropping it in kaka. |
| Darlene | Jul 10th 6:44 pm
I don't know a warranty out there that doesn't make the disclaimer about damage caused by the consumer… Warrenties cover manufactuer defects in normal use… I'd say she's shit out of luck… |
| Darlene | Jul 10th 6:46 pm
*warranties* *manufacturer* should never talk on the phone and post at the same time… |

What happened to good old reading while on the john. Now you need technology to keep you busy? |

Darlene…may I use that for her parents? "I am sorry folks, but your daughter is shit out of luck." I like it. |
| Darlene | Jul 11th 6:57 am
absolutely! |
| Phantom | Jul 11th 10:01 am
How about? You're up shit creek without a paddle…or in this case plastic gloves. |
| bnldavid | Jul 11th 11:42 am
lmao @ phantom. We've decided that on Sunday night when this coach gets back, we are going to keep it in the barn for Monday. Then dump the toilet, flush it with water and see what gets stuck in the screen. If the ipod is there….we can pick it up with a long pair of tongs and drop it in a bucket of water. Then she can pick it up. |

Just goes to show you that music these days is just in the shitter… okay, yeah, that was bad. |

So…..the coach came back and we rescued the IPOD. My brave coach mechanic Chuck had some crazy grabby thing he was able to get it out with. Obviously, its shot. Haven't heard from the girl yet on what she wants done with it…. |
