BNL Chatter / Barenaked Advice / job dilemma

ok, here's the thing.

when I was in India a couple of friends told me about this job I'd be perfect for (I quit my old job for various very good reasons before I left). problem with this job is that it's full time and I can't take that by myself cause I'm starting my master's degree and I need a day or so a week for classes.
we've solved this with me sharing the job with my best friend, so we each have half. we haven't started yet because the guy is very busy just now and we're both going to the states for two weeks at the end of the month.

I have to have a second job with this one cause I wouldn't be able to pay all my bills just with half a salary.

I was walking around last night to try and find something and came upon my favourite record store and they're looking for people. this is the classical store we're talking about, and the guy who works there now knows me and was excited I was asking about it. this job is full time too, but the hours are more flexible and I could make it work with school. the downside is that it doesn't pay all that much to begin with (he couldn't tell me how much, he just said it's between me and the boss).

so now I don't know what to do… I can't hold both jobs, it'd be way too much with school and everything. on the one hand I've also told my bestie that we're going through with the first job, and the first job would be more interesting and challenging, but on the other hand the record store gig might mean I don't have to get a second job, and the hours are more flexible so I could have time to do the projects I want to do this year…

help?

wait. is the first job a job that you would be perfect for, or a job that would be perfect for you?

and how much is your friend depending on it?

i'm skeptical about the record store gig… mostly because it will probably pay next to nothing. and because you could always use that as a backup if the first situation doesn't work out.

yeah, i tend to agree with Mox.

the internet demons made me post twice, lol.

the first job is something I'd be perfect for, also the other way around, but it's a heavier type of deal. this isn't somewhere I can just go work at for a few months or something. he said upfront that he's looking for commited people who can be there throughout the year/s.

I've sorta decided to stick with it. we still need to see if the academy will let us go to only 50% of the classes, otherwise we won't be able to keep this job.
