BNL Chatter / Random Surveys / Land Line

Who here still has a telephone land line to their home or apartment (besides me) and if you do NOT, have you had any problems dropping your old land line? I am sick of paying $ 35 bucks a month for something we had 17 calls on last month. Also, what happens if you cancel JUST the long distance part of it?

I still have a land line. I like that we're in the phonebook, and our plan is part of an internet/cable/unlimited phone plan so it's not really that expensive in and of itself. Besides, I hate talking on my cell, it's easier to hear on a "real" phone. |

I still have a land line. That is the number I usually give out to businesses…but all my friends call me on my cell. I, like Jen, have a bundled net/cable/phone and it would actually cost me more per month if I dropped the land line. |

Okay so I am paying $ 8 a month for long distance…I sure as hell dont need that…. But what happens if I remove it and someone accidentally dials long distance from the house phone? I am guessing I'd get nailed with a huge bill? Or would it just not go through? Of course…AT& T doesnt give any answers… |

I think it goes thru but you have to pay per minute, it probably would still be less than you would have paid if you kept paying per month. Plus if the "accidentally" called, i'm guessing they wouldn't be talking to some random stranger for an hour or something! ;o) Unless they called the phone sex line and were intrigued! ;o) |

I have a land line but only apparently we only gave the new number to the telemarketers. We hardly use it but it came with the package and it is cheaper for us to include it. Also my mom likes the comfort of having a backup line if we ever have an emergency and all three cells phones should stop working at the same time. |

we have a landline, but only because of my roommate - who uses it all the time. it didn't make our service cheaper, it made it more expensive. in fact, it forced us to get an unnecessarily faster modem which costs more per month. i'm not bitter or anything, though. |

I haven't had a land line in 6 years. |
