BNL Chatter / Archives / Good Vibes Please

bnldavid Jan 6th 9:02 am

Our resident nurse midwife Jen has a HUGE meeting today that will most likely shape the next stage of her medical career and she needs some vibes.

CentraCare is considering expanding Jen's role in the clinic to encompass more women's health care which might lead to Jen being able to catch babies!

Right now, she's spending most of her time with general health care and working as a Nurse Practioner and this would be more of what she LOVES to do and what she is trained to do.

So please let's through some vibes for good luck and a positive outcome for this meeting.

Jen…we know you are a wonderful, caring, professional and the best at what you do….good luck with the meeting!

Hugs and luck to my best friend!

oooh… coool…

good luck…

good luck….

and in case I forgot to mention it…

Good luck!!

Oh, she'll do fine.  Jen's an unstoppable force.

it's only me Jan 6th 11:05 am

good luck!

Meh.  Deliveries aren't going to happen anytime soon, from what I can tell… BUT we are going to move forward with me being able to independently manage pregnancies on my own rather than co-managing with a doc (which I'm absolutely already qualified to do…. our clinic just does everything fucking backwards).  Basically there are a bunch of system-wide AND internal issues that are going to put any development of a true nurse midwife program on a burner so far back that my ass will freeze.

Jen Jan 6th 4:39 pm

But thanks anyway to the well-wishers.

bnldavid Jan 6th 7:56 pm

Oh….sorry.

You know….you are smart enough…pretty enough and gosh darn it…people like you.

Maybe in a year or two…you can think about other options? Find a small town in Minnesota or Northern Wisconsin that needs a professional caring CNM and pick up your loves, junk and move.

*hugs*

*huggles*

they will come to their senses and see that you're the obvious choice to help move this forward, and then things will work out.

we love you and think you're great!

Jen Jan 7th 6:48 am

They'll never move forward because it comes down to money… more people getting a "piece of the pie", as one doc says, means less money for all of THEM.

David hit it on the head.  In a few years when (hopefully) the housing market has rebounded, maybe I can look at relocating.  Hopefully someone will take me at that point having not done a birth in years.

Richard Jan 7th 7:00 am

I'll take you.

bnldavid Jan 7th 7:00 am

Hopefully someone will take me at that point having not done a birth in years.

You are not chopped liver.

Some nurse midwife or clinic who is looking to find that one special person to give their patients the highest level of care and concern will take you knowing that they can refresh your birthing skills.

What no one can do is remove your caring spirit and concern to give your patients the utmost in womens health care.

That you cannot teach and it is your gift.

Jen Jan 8th 9:55 am

damn it, David, you just made me cry.  *sniff*

bnldavid Jan 8th 12:39 pm

Well, it is true.

Oh and LMAO @ Richard.

Ditto.

Thread Killer Jan 8th 12:57 pm

Good luck if I'm not too late…

And what everyone else said…you kick ass…don't let anyone else tell you different.

Darlene Jan 10th 10:33 pm

Damn it Jen, I am sorry it didn't go the way you wanted it.  Don't let it get you down--you are a very caring…AMAZING…smart…talented person.

You are in a field where so much opportunity exists…you will catch babies…the scenery changes so fast in healthcare.  A year from now… things can be completely different… and usually are.

The world is your oyster…maybe this place won't let you write your own ticket…but I know that someone out there will.
