BNL Chatter / Archives / A sad day

A friend of mine from high school lost his 8 year old son to Leukemia last night.  This week, it had been a year since he was first admitted to the hospital.  Wes and I were both in a pretty tight group of friends in high school and beyond.  We don't see each other often anymore, but are still friendly and bump into each other pretty regularly.

Although we've grown apart somewhat over the years, my heart is breaking for what he and his family are going through right now.  I pray that they are able to stay strong and lean on each other to get through this, and to help their daughter cope with the loss of her big brother.  Even though they've known for quite some time that this would be terminal, it's impossible to be prepared for the loss.

Hold your loved ones tight and make sure you tell them how much you love them.

I cannot even IMAGINE the pain that losing a child would cause.  Makes me incredibly thankful for my family, my health, and my life in general.

So sorry to hear about this Fleck…hugs to you.

We aren't supposed to see our children die…it will never make sense to me…thus the reason I no longer work in pediatric intensive cae…

My prayers are with them…

I'm really sorry to hear this big guy.  Know that if you need us, you know where we are.  We'll keep you, and your friend's family in our thoughts.
