I woke up to pee last night. One ear was ringing and felt like I was under water…or almost like I was up in a plane. I went back to bed… I got up this morning, and now both of them are like that. I figured that even though I'm not stopped up, I would take a decongestant. Thinking that maybe my ears are just stopped up and it would clear them out. Nope, didn't help. So now everything is all muffled, and I'm having a hard time hearing. I try to pop them to relieve some pressure, but it's not helping. WTF! Now I'm just really thirsty from the stupid Sudifed. And I still can't hear well. |

Give it time. Likely some fluid behind the eardrum from a viral illness; if you haven't been sick, you might be getting a cold/virus. Most likely this will fix itself. The other possibility is that they're full of wax, so if you think that's it then you could try some over the counter wax drops and see if that helps. |

Man, oh man. Sorry to hear about that (no pun intended). Hope it doesn't last long. A music lover like you needs your ears. And Jen --> It's nice to have an on-line nurse! We're fortunate to have your medical skills in the chatter. Coolness. Did you overlook one option, though? Maybe the pressure in the patient's ears is being caused by an unusually large amount of substance in his head… and I'm not talking about wax! ha ha ha OK, it's not nice to kick a man when he's down. Let's wait until he gets better! Get well soon. |

Would wax build up come up suddenly? I mean, I was fine when I went to bed…and throughout the day, it seems to be getting worse. The ringing in my left ear is starting to drive me nuts. Popping them, by yawning, seems to work for about 10 seconds…but only slightly. Then it's starting to get all muffeled again. Thank you for your reply…I do apprecatie it. I'm going to go with the wait and see other than the wax. I did try a q-tip this morning…and it didn't come out all waxy… But this is the first time that I've ever had this…and it's WEIRD! I could hardly keep a conversation going at lunch. |

Not saying it IS wax, just that it was a possibility. Most likely it's the fluid thing. |

Yea, the muffled thing is gone…but now I just have a ringing in my left ear. It's out of nowhere..I went to bed, no issues, I wake up, ringing. I hope I don't end up with Tinnitus because of that muffled thing… |
