BNL Chatter / Misc. / Sprint/Nextel? Better Plans?
| C-pher | Dec 22nd 1:02 pm
As of January 1st Sprint is increasing one of their federal fees from $0.20 to $0.40, now this doesn't sound like a big deal, but for anyone that wants out of their contract, or who wants to use it for leverage to improve their current plan keep reading. This increase is considered, "a materially adverse change in contract terms and conditions." With that being the case, allows you to terminate your contract without having to pay an early termination fee. Now, if you're like me, and happy with your Sprint/Nextel service, use this as leverage to improve your current contract (mind you, this can also increase your contract length back to 2 years, but it can be worth it). I called Sprint Customer Retentions, and said that I wanted to terminate my contract based on the change in contract, they offered to lower my monthly price from $70 to $50 for the next 24 months, and after a little arms twisting, got them to give me the new customer credit on a new phone. So, I now have 450 any time minutes, unlimited mobile to mobile, unlimited nights and week ends starting at 7pm, unlimited data, unlimited text, and Sprint GPS navigation service for $50 a month. They are also giving us a new Blackberry. So, if you want out of your contract, or just want to see if you can get a better price, give this a try. I know a TON of people that have done this to reduce the cost of their service. |

Nice one, C-pher. Thanks! I had a problem with DirecTV and threatened to drop them for ComCast, and the guy went in to "automatic mode" and gave me monthly discounts for the next 6 months. Same kind of thing. BTW: You said, "I know a TON of people that have done this to reduce the cost of their service." Are they midwestern people? If so, it wouldn't take many to reach a ton! My friend visited Wisconsin over the summer. He let his belly get quite big since he got married. When he got back from his Wisconsin trip he said, "I had a good time. I didn't feel too fat because of the contrast!" |

LOL! No more Midwest…I've been in the Boston/Providence Area for about 9-10 years now. Lots of crazys up here. |

Did you pick-up one of those funny Boston accents after 10 years? I'd like to hear you say "car." |

I don't think so…but then people back home in TN think that I did. Yet people up here still say that I sound like I never left the South. It's pretty funny. |

Bummer. I just joined Sprint yesterday. I don't think I'll be able to pull any favors out of 'em. |
