BNL Chatter / Misc. / Weird Suggestions from Netflix

C-pher Jan 3rd 6:53 pm

This was just suggested as a movie I should watch.

"Jesus Christ Vampire Hunter"

Um, I just put it in my instant queue to watch it on the blu-ray…Nicolle looked at me like I have two heads. LOL!

This indie film garnered awards on the festival circuit, including Slamdance, Zombiedance, the Fargo Film Festival and the Santa Cruz Film Festival. The far-out story has Jesus finally returning to Earth -- but he must contend with a world under assault by a band of vampires. Mary Magnum and the god of Mexican wrestling, El Santos, help Jesus fight evil in this oddball horror-comedy.

It just sounds too funny NOT to watch it…and where I don't have to wait for it…why the hell not.  RIGHT??!!?!  If it sucks…I'll just take it off Netflix online on the player.

Don't bother…we made it through about 20 minutes of this and just couldn't watch anymore.

I don't trust Netflix. Their choices for us are never very good and frankly, I think their suggestions are based on inventory and movies they need to move.

I go to the top dvd rental sites and read reviews before I put a movie on our list.

Now Jodi….thats a different story. She gets her hands on the queue, we end up with movies from 1991 that sound good to her, but we have already seen.

LOL

That's what's great about the instant queue. I put a movie on there…then go to the Blu-ray.  Click the Netflix Icon and my whole Instant Queue is there.  I can watch something…and if it sucks, rate it and delete it from my queue right off the blu-ray.

No waiting a couple of days to see if it sucks and wasting one of my mail rentals.

LOVE THE INSTANT QUEUE!

We've actually had a lot of luck with some of their recommendations… lots of great indie flicks that I wouldn't have heard of otherwise.  and they recommend a lot of films we've already seen and loved.

I have good luck with their suggestions - but i also sat down and rated a shitload of movies, and I try rating them every time I see one.

I love the instant queue too, Cph - we just need to run a cable to our flat screen. We've got wireless, but we've got it housed in a secluded room and about 1/2 the time, the signal just isn't strong enough.

Yea, I have the Internet TV in Mantown hooked directly connected up hardwired.

I ran the cable from here…the Cisco Switch up in the top right..

To here..

I did hardwire the Blu-Ray upstairs as well…I just never heard anything good about using it wireless.
